How it all began...
Everyone on the Run Clare committee is dedicated to running; we all love it! We have all been involved in the sport one way or another for most of our lives. We live it and breathe it. One sunny day two years ago we had the brain wave of encouraging everyone to share our passion for the sport and created our amazing series.
In 4 months, we all start on the journey with a 5km race in January to beat the post Christmas blues. In February we travel to the coast to run along side the Atlantic Ocean for 5 miles. In March we head back to Ennis for our urban 10k run. Finally we head to Kilnaboy and go all the way to an impressive 10 miles.
We all start together but we may not all finish together, what matters is that we all have achieved something incredible as an individual.
The races are all on specific dates for special reasons. We wanted to give everyone a goal event after Christmas with a realistic time scale for beginners to get up to 5k distance. The 5 mile, the 10k and the 10 mile are all memorial races which have collectively joined together to create the Run Clare series. The 10 mile is always on the second Sunday in April, and the 10k is always the last Saturday in March. These dates will never change.
We are thrilled to announce that all of the races have been awarded European Athletic 3 stars! An amazing achievement!
4 races. 4 months. 1 goal.
